Program Description: The Youth Advisory Board (YAB) is a dynamic youth leadership development program that plays a pivotal role as the youth advisory board for Youth CLIC. Within the YAB, team members embark on a journey of personal growth, political education, and community engagement, making a meaningful impact in our neighborhoods.
What to Expect: As a YAB team member, you’ll receive comprehensive training in key areas, including political education, professional development, and community organizing techniques. You’ll become part of a dedicated team, working together to inspire change and drive community engagement efforts. The YAB Team is composed of four inspiring team leaders who will guide and mentor ten youth interns. Together, you’ll lead neighborhood and membership engagement activities that involve:
1. Direct Action: Crafting and executing direct responses to current community events, addressing critical issues head-on.
2. Awareness Initiatives: Organizing and hosting events that raise awareness about challenges impacting our community, sparking important conversations.
3. Community Connection: Holding monthly house meetings with CLIC members to create a space for dialogue, collaboration, and community building.
Leadership and Peer Support: YAB Team Leads are the driving force behind our program. They serve as peer leaders, upholding the YAB’s unique organizational culture, and act as representatives at community events and meetings. As a YAB Team Lead, you’ll coordinate the efforts of the YAB Team youth, ensuring that our neighborhood and membership engagement initiatives are impactful and purposeful.
